Merry Christmas
I took this photo almost 20 years ago in the lobby of a very old Key West mansion turned bed and breakfast. It is still one of my many favorite holiday photos.

Race time
Road America at Elkhart Lake WI

Chicago river
Walking along the river I took a few photos of the building across the river behind me reflected in the ones I was facing.

Mid 1800s Farm
This Utah farm was established in 1859-1863.

Schooner Wharf
Key West waterfront is tightly packed with boats of all sizes, people, bars and restaurants. Here is the Miss Key West, a shrimper and 86' windjammer the Appledore II. I think it would make an interesting jigsaw puzzle.

Fantasy Fest Model
This gentleman was a model for a body painting studio. He was painted differently every time I saw him during the week long festival.

Watching and waiting
Key West...couldn't think of anything else to call it.

On A Walk
Slow walking with a camera in hand can yield some, in my opinion, interesting stuff.

Best Seats In The House
Key West sunset cruise.

A new day begins
Sunrise Wisconsin

Gambel’s Quail
Taking refuge under a shrub during the rare SW Utah snowfall.

Sunrise
Sunflower farm in Wisconsin.

Silver Mine
Pioche NV has lots of abandoned mines. The building contained the machinery to lift the ore up the shaft that is at the base of the wooden structure. I am always very careful where I step anywhere near these things.

Blue Angels Moon
I was very lucky with this photo.

Merry Christmas
Says the flamingo

Bismarck
This is a Silver Bismarck Palm which of course in real life is colored a light green so it looks silvery compared to other palms. But with the help of a black & white camera it truly is now a Silver Bismarck Palm. I took this photo in Key West FL.

Devils Island
In the distance is Devil's Island (Île du Diable), a French penal colony that operated for more than 100 years, from 1852 to 1953, in the Salvation Islands of French Guiana.
Opened in 1852, the Devil's Island system received convicts from the Prison of St-Laurent-du-Maroni, who had been deported from all parts of the Second French Empire. It was notorious both for the staff's harsh treatment of detainees and the tropical climate and diseases that contributed to high mortality. The prison system had a death rate of 75% at the worst, and was finally closed down in 1953.

Selfie
I apologize but sometimes when around an old candy dispenser my ego gets the best of me.

Cedar Breaks
Cedar Breaks is a natural amphitheater, stretching across 3 miles, with a depth of over 2,000 feet. The elevation of the rim of the amphitheater is over 10,000 feet above sea level. Iron oxides provide the reds, oranges and yellows, while manganese oxides provide shades of purple.

Continental Divide
Rocky Mountain National Park at 10,759 feet.

Bryce Canyon Utah
One of the "Big Five" as they are called, National Parks in Utah.

Reflective layers
Walking in Miami I saw this wild reflection of multiple layers. When I got home and went through the photos I was able to really appreciate the depths of what I saw. Window, restaurant, wall of graffiti, new building and somebody standing on the sidewalk.

Perspective only
Docked in Key West this cruise ship takes on monstrous proportions in comparison to the passengers waiting to board. I took this photo on a walk through town with a black and white camera. Without color in photos I often struggle to find something else to give it interest.

Shrimpers
High winds bring the shrimp fleet in to anchor until the seas calm down. This photo was taken at extreme distance and capability of the lens. I then cropped (reduced) it to 5% of the original size. What made it even more difficult was the boats were moving while anchored in the wind. But given all this, I like the way it turned out.

Posing for the shot
Great egret, smiling I think, in Florida.

Reddish Dawn
Key West, Casa Marina pier.

Glen Canyon Dam

Race week
Rescue swimmers aboard a helicopter chase a 42 foot, 2200 horsepower racer powered by a 14-liter, 16-cylinder engine during race week in Key West.

Arizona Slot Canyon
The Navajo Sandstone is lit by the overhead sunlight which brings out the red, pink, orange and even purple colors. Page AZ is famous for its 26 mile Antelope Canyon.

Big Bangs

Gator
Florida aligator

Color Coordinated Guy
Just walking down a Key West back street when this guy comes riding by.

Drag Show
Las Vegas Motor Speedway NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. One of these cars reached a speed of 353.73mph in 3.697 seconds in these 11,000 horsepower dragsters. The sound of 44,000 horsepower lasting less than 4 seconds actually causes pressure on your chest.

Pioche Nevada
On the site of an old ore processing plant established in 1891 that's been closed for about 45 years. The mill is intact and very interesting to photograph. This is just one of a few outbuildings on the property.

Ford
I really like photographing old vehicles.

Lift Engine
Used to lift the ore cart up the mine shaft. This is an old silver mine in Pioche Nevada. These old mines are pretty spooky to explore, have to be very very careful.

Full Sail
Afternoon sail on the America 2.0 off Key West FL

In the back row
I love taking sunset photos in Key West. Sometimes I think I have enough but I'm always proven wrong because every sunset is a little different from all the others. For this one I'm sitting on a beach on a plastic lawn chair, camera with a big lens mounted on a tripod between my legs. I just Googled something like best sunset locations and Key West seemed to be on everyones top 10 list. Every evening there are 10-30 boats carrying their paid customers out for a front row view while I'm sitting in the back row hoping they will partially block my view.

Best Christmas Outfit
Years ago the Curry Mansion in Key West went all out in decorating for the holidays.

Brick rear view mirror
Maybe 8am in an old warehouse district in Milwaukee. I found myself facing the sun which is blocked by this building but lighting the buildings behind me which is reflected in the windows of this building. Another good 2500 piece jigsaw puzzle.

Perched atop the Black Mountains at 5,475 feet, Dante’s view is tall and wide. Both of Death Valley’s elevation extremes, 282 feet below sea level and 11,049 feet above, can be seen in a single glance. Dante’s View in Death Valley National Park offers premier panoramic views of Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. Across the valley rises Telescope Peak, the highest in the park.

Waiting for a train
There's something in photography called "leading lines" that if captured should lead your eyes into the photo causing interest. I took it in color but I converted it to B&W because the color seemed to get in the way.

After Hours
Street in Key West called Petronia that day or night is pleasant to walk down. Nice shops and restaurants away from the hustle of Duval Street. This shop was closed but full of color. Happened to have a good lens on the camera that performs well in low light.

Extraterrestrial Photographers
Walked out to the end of a pier to take a sunrise photo and was joined by what appeared to be an extraterrestrial and a friend with the same idea.

A medium-sized, delicate and slim heron with a long, daggerlike bill. Its long thin neck curves up to its small head. Wingspan is a little over 3 feet. I find these and other birds in a Federal wildlife sanctuary on Big Pine Key which is about 40 miles from Key West.

Paria Canyon
The Paria Movie Set: This set was located at the bottom of this towering, multi-colored sandstone canyon only a few miles up the Paria River from Paria Sage Casitas. The movie set was used to film western movies such as Sergeants 3 in 1961 and The Outlaw Josey Wales in 1976 as well as TV shows from 1963-1991. As a location, it was used for several episodes of Gunsmoke and Sergeants Three. Those willing to take the bumpy trip will be rewarded with interpretive displays and remarkable canyon views. While the movie set withstood gunfights and saloon brawls, it couldn’t withstand the ravages of nature. Flooding left a 20 foot gully running through the middle of the three-building town. Through a cooperative effort between local volunteers and the BLM, the buildings were dismantled and rebuilt on stable ground.

Frosty Zion
Utah's Zion National Park is beautiful year round but winter is special with the dusting of snow and very few people.

The Bull
The Bull is a famous bar in Key West. Only in the early morning do you find a primo table like this available.

In the rain
Walking across a Miami street wearing a plastic poncho I see this guy looking very cool under his umbrella. I asked if I could I take his picture and with a smile he said yes. So out comes the camera and I pushed the shutter button. Showed him the photo, we chatted about umbrellas with holes vs sweaty ponchos and I moved on.
