Walking down "The Boulevard" in St George UT I came upon this billiards, bowling and video arcade. The big brilliant red sign caught my eye but in B&W I look farther into the scene. The car, rather than blocking the view becomes another source of interest and light. This observation is all after the fact because when I was taking it I wished I had a color camera and didn't like the car. B&W photos are, to me, a very interesting medium.

Gunlock State Park
For much of the year, Gunlock experiences relatively low traffic. Gunlock Reservoir is a small, quiet body of water where you can fish for bass and catfish. Others enjoy participating in water sports like wakeboarding and waterskiing.
During certain times of the year, the reservoir gets full enough that the Gunlock waterfalls begin to flow into the Santa Clara River. This typically happens in early spring, as snow starts to melt. When the falls are active, the area gets much busier than usual but It’s worth it, however, to get a glimpse of the water jetting over Southern Utah’s signature red rocks. Utah Travel Site

Bobcat
Weighing 15-33 lbs, the bobcat is a nocturnal, generally solitary cat equally at home in forests and deserts; it is less inclined to climb trees or swim. It feeds on rodents, rabbits, hares, and some birds. Wikipedia
I found him in front of the house and was surprised how close he let me get. The reason was he had a rabbit trapped below him that was hiding behind a cactus, neither wanting to move. Eventually the cat stood up and slowly walked away from both of us.

In the background is Zion National Park which was carved by the Virgin river. Here in Rockville UT this very old bridge crosses the river. The surrounding area is very prone to flash flooding when rains fall north of the park.

Douglas DC-3
The Douglas DC-3 first flew in 1935 with production reaching over 16,000 planes. Many continue to be used in a variety of niche roles. As of 2023 it is estimated about 150 are still flying. I took this at the EAA convention in Oshkosh WI.

High Above The Colorado River
Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge
Pat Tillman, an American football player who left his career with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the United States Army and was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 by friendly fire. It
is an arch bridge that spans the Colorado River between the of Arizona and Nevada. The bridge is located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and carries Interstate 11 and U.S. Route 93 over the Colorado River. The bridge was the first concrete-steel composite arch bridge built in the United States, and incorporates the widest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere. At 890 feet above the Colorado River, it is the second highest bridge in the United States after the Royal Gorge Bridge near Cañon City, Colorado, and is the world's highest concrete arch bridge.
I took this photo while standing on top of the Hoover Dam. Pedestrian access is provided over the bridge who wish to take in a different view of the nearby dam and river below, but the dam is not visible for those driving across it.

Zion at Dusk
We were leaving Zion National Park one winter evening while the sun was setting behind the mountains to the right. It was getting dark fast but we stopped on a bridge to shoot a couple more photos lit faintly by the fading light.

South Beach
South Beach, also nicknamed colloquially as SoBe, is a neighborhood in Miami Beach, Florida. It is located east of Miami between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The area encompasses Miami Beach south of Dade Boulevard.
This area was the first section of Miami Beach to be developed, starting in the 1910. Day or night the colorful buildings are make for some beautiful photographs.

Easy to photograph but impossible to get the full effect. This glass case was about a foot tall and 3 wide. The reflections and angles made it appear as if there were thousands of bottles in a space the size of a warehouse, seen from any angle.

Gunlock Reservoir Overflow
Fed by a record snowpack in the surrounding mountains, the waterfalls at the Gunlock Reservoir near St. George UT is flowing again and unleashing a torrent of water and visitors.
It’s the third time in the past five years the water from the reservoir has cascaded over the dam and spilled onto the cliffside rocks, creating the rare waterfalls that lure visitors from all over Utah and southern Nevada. Text credit: The Salt Lake Tribune

Orchid
Orchids are one of the two largest families of flowering plants. There are over 28,000 currently accepted species of orchids and horticulturists have produced more than 100,000 hybrids. The number of orchid species is nearly equal to the number of bony fishes, more than twice the number of bird species, and about four times the number of mammal species. (Wikipedia)

Desert Color
Ivins Utah is on the outskirts of St George bordered by red sandstone mountains, a Paiute reservation and large tracts of BLM land. The elevation is is about 3500', almost anything can be grown with supplementary water, snow come 2x/year but rarely lasts past 10am. Air is dry, rarely gets below freezing, it gets hot in July and August without the extremes of nearby Arizona and Nevada. The soil is orange due to the sandstone mountains behind me. Spring color begins in February as the temperatures climb with the falling rain.

Cedar Breaks National Monument
Located in Southwest Utah at over 10,000' the monument is a multi-colored sandstone amphitheater. Due to snow it is inaccessible for most of the year. We were lucky to be there after the roads were plowed and before all the snow had melted.

Milwaukee 3rd Ward
Old warehouse district near the river has some interesting architecture and masonry work. For many years this area was full of vacant buildings but now contains some of the cities most expensive condos and apartments.

Along the river
Came across this riverfront property that had interesting materials and lines. Looked like it could be a good jigsaw puzzle.

Christmas Harbor
Key West harbor.... as unlikely as it would be, snow would be a pretty addition to this photo.

American White Pelican
American White Pelicans feed from the water’s surface, dipping their beaks into the water to catch fish and other aquatic organisms. They do not plunge-dive the way Brown Pelicans do. They are superb soarers (they are among the heaviest flying birds in the world) and often travel long distances in large flocks by soaring. They can grow to an astonishing 9.5 feet in length, 5.5 feet long and weigh as much as 20lbs. I've seen flocks in FL, UT and WI that number over a thousand.

Bahia Honda
The Bahia Honda Rail Bridge is a derelict railroad bridge in the lower Florida Keys connecting Bahia Honda Key with Spanish Harbor Key. It was originally part of the Overseas Railway, but the state of Florida purchased it from the Florida East Coast Railway after the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane and converted it for automobile use as part of the Overseas Highway in 1938. After a replacement Bahia Honda Bridge was opened in 1972, two spans of the old bridge were removed for the safety of boaters. Wikipedia

Sunrise Surprise
Sitting on the dock focusing, one eye closed, on the sunrise and distant clouds, this rower appears in my viewfinder. He was so silent I never heard him coming.

Gambel’s quail
Gambel's quail primarily move about by walking and can move surprisingly fast through brush and undergrowth. They are rarely seen in flight. Any flight is usually short and explosive, with many rapid wingbeats, followed by a slow glide to the ground. In the spring, Gambel's quail pair off for mating and become very aggressive toward other pairs. The female typically lays 10–12 eggs concealed in vegetation, often at the base of a rock or tree. The chicks leave the nest with their parents within hours of hatching. Wikipedia

This 8x12 foot wall painting was done with spray cans. There is an area in Miami called Wynwood Walls which is covered in graffiti like this.

City of old cars
Havana...and they are everywhere. Once a month there is a car show in Havana. Because of the Cubans infatuation (and mine) with cars, I would love to be there for one.

Southernmost beach
This is the southernmost beach in the continental US, located in Key West FL. Admittedly it's not a very interesting photo but if you could feel the wind and hear the surf maybe you'd see why I not only took it, but shared it with you.

Camera Bump
While taking a photo of a ferris wheel at dusk, I bumped the camera which was, until this moment, very securely attached to a tripod to prevent any
movement. I think it’s one of the better shots I came home with. This new art form I will call Camera Bumping!
